Understanding the
"12-Year Warranty/Born-On Date" sticker

NEVER buy an Aeron Chair without a born-on date sticker.

What is it?
The 12-year warranty/born-on date sticker acts as a certificate of authenticity for your Aeron Chair. It consists of the make and model of the chair, the date and time of manufacture, and the Factory Order number. These three things combined make up the information needed to cover and use the Herman Miller 12-year parts and labor warranty.

Where do I find it?
The 12-year warranty/born-on date sticker is usually placed under the seatpan.

What if it's missing?
Without this label, not only did the chair not come from an authorized Herman Miller dealer, but the chair is not covered by the 12-year warranty.

The "born-on" date is over a few months ago...
An Aeron Chair with a label this old is most likely used. Herman Miller makes each chair to order, typically 1-2 days before they ship. Do not purchase an Aeron Chair with a 12-year warranty/born-on date label that is more than two months old without asking the following questions:

1. Is the seller a Herman Miller Authorized Retailer?
Click here to learn about why you should only purchase from an Authorized Retailer.

2. Has the chair been used?
The Herman Miller 12 year warranty will only be honored for the original purchaser. The factory order number (printed on the label) allows any authorized retailer to verify the original purchaser of the chair before performing warranty service. If this information does not match, the warranty cannot be honored.
